Holiday home in the historic center of Portoferraio/Island Elba

The house that will host you is located in the historic center of Portoferraio, the "capital" of the Island of Elba. Napoleon Buonaparte's palace is 200 meters away, at the top of the Forte Stella hill.

The historic center of Portoferraio is very lively and a few minutes walk from the house there are bars, restaurants and shops.

However, the house is in a quiet street, everything is "two streets away", the nights are quiet and silent.

In the historic center of Portoferraio you can do everything by  foot, including going to the artisan market which is held every evening, walking on the waterfront, reaching the two city beaches in a few minutes: Le Viste and Le Ghiaie or the ferry doks for the continent.

The house is part of the first construction of the city, approximately dating back to the first half of the seventeenth century. My grandfather bought it in 1942, my parents renovated it in 1979, I have lived there since 1999…. and I customized it.

They say it's "the house of an artist", I've never felt like one but it's certainly not the mainstream aseptic space of beach houses used only for tourists. It's my house, I live there.

The house is approximately 40m2 and is ideal for a couple with or without children, also for friends, obviously, for up to three adults the spaces are very livable.

In the house you will find three/four beds organized as a sofa bed, one is a double bed, the other is a single bed with another pull-out bed.

In the house you will find all the comforts that I love to surround myself with: from a good internet connection to the American coffee machine (not so easy to find in an Italian house), there are an induction cooker, a microwave oven and an electric oven, electrical plugs everywhere and a bluetooth amplifier.

I am a photojournalist, in good weather I am always away for job so I open the house to you who will make it the ideal base for your holiday on Elba.

I always leave my National Geographic collection and some photography magazines and books available. You will also find a guide to using the house with a part dedicated to my suggestions about the area and the entire island.

Staying in Portoferraio is ideal for discovering the entire island, it is in fact located equidistant from the rest of the island...and staying in the historic center is more beautiful.

Note

During the day they can be sofas, at night they become beds.

You will find everything you need for cooking, you will also find sheets and towels.

There are three ceiling fans and, only in mid-season, there is also gas heating.

Check-out by 10.00 am and check-in starting from 4.00 pm, also possible independently thanks to a safe with safety lock.
